About FitGirl-ATX

I am a health & fitness enthusiast, and my passion lies in encouraging others to adopt healthy lifestyles and teaching others through exercise instruction. I have been a fitness instructor and personal trainer since 1997. I have taught at the University of MD, World Gym, Gold's Gym, and the Riata Apartment complex. I hold certifications in the following areas: personal training, group exercise instruction, and indoor cycling. I am also a former member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association. I am an avid kettlebell lifter and have completed Anthony DiLugio's Kettlebell Essentials Instructor Certitifcation course (2009). I also plan to get certified by the IKFF in 2011. I am a former NPC figure & amateur bodybuilding competitor (2003, 2004, 2006). I went through a period of high stress and anxiety which wreaked havoc on my body for a few years. I gained about 40 pounds in a very short period of time.  Getting it off has been an arduous process to say the least. Anyhoo, I can say proudly that I have weathered the storm, am reducing my stress levels, and am slowly getting my body back to a place where is comfortable for me.  My horomone and stress levels are returning to a normal state, which is producing a noticeable change in my body composition, energy, stamina, and response to solid eating.  As a result, I feel good enough to announce that I am preparing for my comeback competitive NPC appearance in Fall 2013.  I specialize in underground training methodologies, and I love finding new ways to push myself to a higher level of fitness. I enjoy learning about new ways to attain optimal fitness and conditioning levels. I also enjoy participating in several on-line fitness related forums.

Thank you for letting me share a bit of my personal journey in cyberspace.
